The Monessen Greyhounds can now show off six landslide victories after their most recent matchup on Wednesday. They breezed by Avella at home to the tune of 58-14. For those curious, yes, that was the biggest win Monessen has managed all season.
Hailey Johnson continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 15 points and 14 rebounds. Another player making a difference was MyAsia Majors, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 13 rebounds.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Avella struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only two offensive rebounds. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Monessen pulled down 37 offensive rebounds.
The win makes it two in a row for Monessen and bumps their season record up to 8-3. As for Avella, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-12.
Monessen will head out on the road to face off against Bethlehem Center at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Bethlehem Center will be looking to keep their three-game home win streak alive. Avella won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Jefferson-Morgan at 6:00 p.m. on January 18th. Jefferson-Morgan has now lost seven straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 15.
