The North Saxons will venture away from home to challenge the Culver City Centaurs at 3:15 p.m. on Monday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.
North's last matchup with South could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's contest on Friday. The Saxons lost 9-2 to the Spartans. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Saxons have suffered since April 30, 2025.
Mason Matsumoto was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he pitched 4.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-low in walks (two).

On the hitting side, Lucas Blackwood was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one double. He has become a key player for North: the team is 3-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 5-6 otherwise. Fabrizio Arakaki also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
Meanwhile, Culver City fought the good fight in their extra-innings matchup against Leuzinger on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 4-3 to the Olympians, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. The Centaurs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Nolan Riesenberg was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. On the mound, he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Riesenberg was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and one RBI.
North's record is now 8-7. As for Culver City, their loss was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 4-9-1.
North came up short against Culver City when the teams last played back in February of 2024, falling 5-1. Can the Saxons avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
