The Fair Haven Slaters will challenge the Mount Anthony Patriots at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Fair Haven took a loss when they played away from home on Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Wednesday. They walked away with an 11-8 victory over Middlebury. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Slaters considering their one-run performance the game before.
MASON GUTEL made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed six innings while giving up just two earned (and six unearned) runs off six hits. GUTEL was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one run and one double. That run marked the first that he has scored this season.
In other batting news, TANNER BIXBY and BRODY DORAN did most of the damage at the plate: BIXBY went 2-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI, while DORAN went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Those two runs gave BIXBY a new career-high. Another player making a difference was CODY ADAMS, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Mount Anthony entered their tilt with Mount Greylock Regional on Friday with seven consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with eight. They walked away with a 9-5 win over the Mounties.
Jonathan Crossman was excellent, going 2-for-4 with one home run and two runs. Brody Smith was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.
Mount Anthony was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .407. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Mount Greylock Regional only posted a batting average of .222.
Mount Anthony's victory bumped their record up to 11-2. As for Fair Haven, their win bumped their record up to 4-9.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Thursday as neither team is afraid to steal. Fair Haven has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.8 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Mount Anthony struggles in that department as they've been averaging 2.9 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Fair Haven suffered a grim 14-0 defeat to Mount Anthony when the teams last played back in May of 2025. Will the Slaters have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more baseball content.
