The Red Lake Warriors's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their seventh straight loss. They fell to Laporte 48-43. Red Lake was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Wildcats apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in December of 2023.
Red Lake's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Rhianna May, who scored eight points along with 17 rebounds and three steals. Another player making a difference was Ava Northbird, who scored seven points along with eight rebounds and five steals.
Red Lake has been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last ten contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-15 record this season. As for Laporte, their victory ended a eight-game drought on the road and puts them at 3-23.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Red Lake will take on the Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Nevis presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than the Warriors in Minnesota (the Tigers are ranked 164th, while the Warriors are ranked 360th). As for Laporte, they will head out on the road to take on the Thunder at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Long Prairie-Grey Eagle is out to stop a six-game streak of losses at home.
