Meanwhile, Valencia escaped with a win on Tuesday against West Ranch by the margin of a single free throw, 44-43. The victory was just what Valencia needed coming off of a 93-14 loss in their prior matchup.
Canyon is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 12-12 record this season. As for Valencia, their win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-15.
Canyon beat Valencia 46-34 in their previous matchup on January 2nd. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Valencia's Cara McKell, who dropped a double-double on 27 points and 12 rebounds.
