Tony Pedroza made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He is becoming a predictor of Kennedy's success: when he allows at most one hit the team is 2-1 (and 2-21 when he doesn't). Pedroza was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in two of his three plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ashton Luckenbill, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March. Oliver Parkinson was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
West Park came out on top against Antelope on Friday thanks in part to the team's impressive seven-run third inning. The Panthers put the hurt on the Titans with a sharp 11-1 victory. The Panthers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 13 matches by seven runs or more this season.
Bradley Hunter looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in five consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Christopher Fisher was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with four stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. He has been hot for a while, having posted at least one stolen base the last 18 times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Ayden Deome, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs and two RBI.
West Park always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .613. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Antelope only posted an OBP of .318.
West Park has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 13 of their last 15 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-6 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.9 runs over those games. As for Kennedy, the victory was their first at home , bumping their record up to 4-22.
Kennedy suffered a grim 33-0 defeat to West Park in their previous meeting on April 4th. Can the Cougars avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
