The Panther Valley Panthers entered their tilt with the Jim Thorpe Olympians with four consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with five. Panther Valley blew past Jim Thorpe 70-38 at home. Panther Valley has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five matches by 24 points or more this season.
Panther Valley was led to victory by Maddison Maynard and Morgan Orsulak. Maynard dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds, while Orsulak dropped a double-double on 23 points and 18 rebounds. Maynard is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Kaidence Krapf, who scored nine points along with two steals.
Despite the loss, Jim Thorpe still got an impressive performance from Kiara Ginopolas, who scored 15 points. That's the first time this season that Ginopolas scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Sarah Hartman, who scored seven points.
Panther Valley pushed their record up to 11-4 with that victory, which was their fourth straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.0 points per game. As for Jim Thorpe, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-12.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Panther Valley will square off against Blue Mountain at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Jim Thorpe, they will head out on the road to square off against Lehighton at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
