The Riverside Prep Silver Knights are taking a road trip to challenge the Excelsior Charter Eagles at 3:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Riverside Prep is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.9 runs per game this season.
Riverside Prep is probably headed into the contest with a chip on their shoulder considering Ontario Christian just ended the team's six-game winning streak on Tuesday. They fell just short of the Knights by a score of 8-7.
Riverside Prep got a good showing from Zach Powelson, who didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. Powelson has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Trent Bourgeois was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base. Riverside Prep is 6-3 when Bourgeois posts two or more runs, but 5-7 otherwise. Jake Wilhoit was another key player, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.
Meanwhile, Excelsior Charter came up short against University Prep on Friday and fell 8-4. The loss continues a trend for the Eagles in their meetings with the Jaguars: they've now lost four in a row.
Excelsior Charter saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Logan Brown, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run.
Riverside Prep's record is now 11-10. As for Excelsior Charter, their record now sits at 5-5.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Wednesday. Riverside Prep hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.5 home runs per game. However, it's not like Excelsior Charter struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 0.8 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Riverside Prep got the 'W' in their previous meeting back in May of 2025 against Excelsior Charter by a conclusive 38-0 score. Do the Silver Knights have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Eagles turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
