The Meyersdale Red Raiders had to endure a five-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They snuck past Shade with a 38-33 victory on Monday. The victory was just what Meyersdale needed coming off of a 54-21 defeat in their prior match.
Meyersdale was led to victory by Laurel Daniels and Sarah Hainsworth. Daniels dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds, while Hainsworth scored 14 points along with five steals and two blocks. That's the first time this season that Hainsworth posted two or more blocks. Another player making a difference was Morgan Walters, who scored two points along with three steals.
Meyersdale's win ended a seven-game drought on the road and puts them at 5-12. As for Shade, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-15.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Meyersdale will take on Blacklick Valley at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Blacklick Valley will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak. As for Shade, they will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against Turkeyfoot Valley Area at 6:00 p.m. Hopefully Turkeyfoot Valley Area focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 17 last Thursday.
