It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Imperial had no problem doing just that on Saturday. They were the clear victor by a 49-23 margin over the St. Joseph Academy Crusaders. The Tigers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 12 matchups by 20 points or more this season.
Imperial found their leader in freshman Elynna Jimenez, who almost dropped a double-double with 22 points and nine rebounds. The contest was Jimenez's third in a row with at least 18 points. Nayeli Cardona was another key player, putting up ten points in addition to eight boards and five steals.
Imperial has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 14 of their last 15 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 25-4 record this season. St. Joseph Academy's loss was their sixth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 14-14.
Imperial wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 49-45 defeat against Otay Ranch on the 26th. St. Joseph Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
