The Davis Sr. Blue Devils came tearing into Friday's game with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 23.5 points) and they left with even more momentum. They managed a 54-48 win over Grant. The win was all the more spectacular given Davis Sr.'s disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 263rd, while Grant is ranked 117th).
Tessa Schouten was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 25 points and 11 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points she has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Jiana Trotman, who scored eight points along with 11 rebounds.
Several Pacers players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Samaya Dillard, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 12 rebounds. Dillard is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last five games she's played. Nerissa Hamilton was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with six rebounds and four steals.
Even though they lost, Grant were working as a unit and finished the game with 17 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Davis Sr. only racked up five assists.
Davis Sr. is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 12-9 record this season. As for Grant, their defeat dropped their record down to 17-4.
Davis Sr. will head out on the road to challenge Cosumnes Oaks at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Cosumnes Oaks will be looking to keep their three-game home win streak alive. Grant will take on Laguna Creek at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Laguna Creek is coming into the match on a three-game losing streak.
