Early found their leader in sophomore Caden Wilson, who threw for 144 yards and two TDs on only 13 passes, and also rushed for 50 yards and one score. Wilson's passing game has become a key predictor of the Longhorns' success: the team is 2-1 when his passer rating is 110 or higher, but only 1-3 otherwise.
Early's run defense was locked in: Clifton could only muster 0.9 yards per carry. The Longhorns' ground attack was stronger, having averaged 3.5.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Brady). They simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat Eastland 70-31. With the Bulldogs ahead 42-19 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.
Brady's win came from a few key players Early will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Ashton Taylor, who rushed for 132 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 7.3 yards per carry. He also deserves a shoutout for his performance on D, picking up a sack and making nine total tackles. Another player making a difference was Sean Jacoby, who rushed for 93 yards and a pair of scores on only nine carries.
Brady's defensive line made their presence known, laying out the QB three times. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Taylor, Johnny Roque, and Demarcus Reed, who each picked up one sack apiece.
Early's victory bumped their record up to 3-4. As for Brady, their win bumped their record up to 5-2.
Early was dealt a bruising 42-15 defeat at the hands of Brady in their previous meeting back in October of 2024. Will the Longhorns have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other football content.
