On Tuesday, the St. Anthony Saints faced the Bishop Montgomery Knights in a battle between two of the state's top teams. St. Anthony ended up on the wrong side of a tough 76-55 walloping at the hands of Bishop Montgomery. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Several Saints players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Ryann Bennett, who scored 21 points along with six rebounds and six blocks. Kadence Lloyd was another key contributor, scoring 14 points.
This is the second loss in a row for St. Anthony and nudges their season record down to 16-7. As for Bishop Montgomery, the win was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 16-3.
St. Anthony will be playing in front of their home fans against St. Mary's Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Bishop Montgomery, they will head out on the road to challenge St. Paul at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. St. Paul will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 282nd, while Bishop Montgomery is ranked sixth).
