Two dominant signal callers in Jakob Garcia and Chase Campbell are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Permian Panthers will square off against the Frenship Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Permian is coming into the game hot, having won their last seven games.
Permian is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 51-48 win over Midland Legacy on Friday. Surprisingly, this marked the Panthers' fourth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor.

Gavin Black continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 320 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 8.4 yards per carry. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 111.1 rushing yards per game. Cayden Hernandez did his part to keep the secondary busy, picking up 89 receiving yards.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Permian was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 342 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in October of 2024.
Meanwhile, you can't lose the game if you win every quarter, and that was precisely Frenship's strategy against Odessa on Friday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Tigers blew the Bronchos out of the water with a 47-6 final score. The Tigers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three matchups by 28 points or more this season.
Permian better keep an eye on Braiden Dunkerson. He was instrumental in Frenship's win, rushing for 191 yards and five scores while picking up 8.0 yards per carry, and also picking up 32 receiving yards. Those 191 rushing yards gave Dunkerson a new career-high.
Frenship didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Dominique Bradley, Alexander Smith, and Chrishaud Davis picked up one apiece. Another thorn in Odessa's side was Noah Lopez, who picked up a sack and made 11 total tackles.
Permian's record now sits at 7-1. As for Frenship, the victory got them back to even at 4-4.
Friday's contest might be decided in the trenches. Permian has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 150.8 rushing yards per game. It's a different story for Frenship, though, as they've been averaging an even more impressive 95.6 rushing yards. How will they fare against such a dominant running game?
Permian ended up a good deal behind Frenship when the teams last played back in November of 2024, losing 44-27. Can the Panthers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
