The High Tech SD Storm had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 22.5 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Saturday. They strolled past Holtville with points to spare, taking the game 48-32. Given High Tech SD's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 425th, while Holtville is ranked 1014th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Leading High Tech SD to victory were Vivianna Cravens and Emma LaSalle. Cravens scored 18 points along with seven rebounds and five steals, while LaSalle scored 15 points along with nine steals and seven rebounds. LaSalle is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Kylei Hayward, who scored ten points along with three steals.
Loss or not, Holtville got some senior leadership from Vanessa Gonzalez who scored eight points along with eight rebounds and seven blocks and Jasmine Garewal who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 11 rebounds. Garewal scored a full 46.9% of Holtville's points, the tenth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Melany Estrada, who scored five points.
High Tech SD is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 10-2 record this season. As for Holtville, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-9.
High Tech SD is on the road again on Wednesday and play against Paradise Honors at 12:00 p.m. on December 27th. Holtville will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Steele Canyon at 7:00 p.m. on January 5, 2024.
