Hoover is 0-10 against Crescenta Valley since March of 2019 but things could change on Tuesday. The Hoover Tornados will look to defend their home field against the Crescenta Valley Falcons at 3:00 p.m. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.
Crescenta Valley will be up against a hot Hoover squad: the team just extended their winning streak to five. Hoover came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured an 8-7 W against Rio Hondo Prep. While the Tornados didn't have the best season last year (they finished 2-22-1), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Alex Weimar made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
In other batting news, Eli Legino was excellent, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
Meanwhile, Crescenta Valley owes their pitching crew a big pat on the back after their performance on Saturday. They had just enough and edged out Citrus Valley 1-0. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Falcons have posted since March 1, 2024.
Colin Moore tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run over six innings pitched.
On the hitting side, Crescenta Valley's victory was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Chris Torres, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2.
Hoover's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 5-2. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games. As for Crescenta Valley, they now have a winning record of 3-2.
Crescenta Valley's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Hoover hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .324. It's a different story for Crescenta Valley, though, as they've only averaged .223. Will they be able to contain Hoover's hitters?
Hoover might still be hurting after the 9-0 defeat they got from Crescenta Valley when the teams last played back in March of 2024. Can Hoover avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
