Elizabeth took care of business in their home opener on Thursday (barely). It was close, but they ultimately received the gift of a 59-57 win from a begrudging Minutemen squad. The victory was nothing new for they as they're now sitting on seven straight dating back to last season.
Elizabeth found their leader in sophomore Jayden Johnson, who went 7 of 14 en route to 24 points and eight rebounds. Another player making a difference was Jordan Torres, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds.
Having lost for the first time this season, Plainfield fell to 2-1.
Elizabeth wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 71-58 win against Linden on the 21st. As for Plainfield, a feisty cat fight will be fought when the Plainfield Cardinals duke it out with the Columbia Cougars at 1:00 p.m. on Monday. One thing working in Plainfield's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season.
