New Jersey High School Basketball - Elizabeth nips Plainfield

In Thursday's league contest, the host Elizabeth Minutemen basketball team scored a close 59-57 triumph over the Plainfield Cardinals.

The Minutemen (1-0) will now prepare for their contest against Linden (Linden, NJ). The Tigers go into the Union County contest with a 1-2 record. In their last contest, Linden was tipped by Union Catholic (Scotch Plains, NJ), 53-45, in a non-league contest.

In their next game, the Cardinals battle the Columbia Cougars (Maplewood, NJ) in a non-league contest, on Monday, December 23. Plainfield will attempt to better on its 1-1 season record. The Cougars go into the contest with a 1-2 record after their 71-48 non-league loss to Seton Hall Prep (West Orange, NJ).
