Given El Capitan's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 356th, while Monte Vista is ranked 745th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
El Capitan found their leader in underclassman Keira Heinricy, who scored 24 points along with five assists and five rebounds. Heinricy hasn't dropped below 15points for three straight games. Paige Worthem was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with eight rebounds and two blocks.
El Capitan pushed their record up to 14-9 with that victory, which was their third straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.0 points per game. As for Monte Vista, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 9-13.
El Capitan will head out on the road to square off against Granite Hills at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Monte Vista, they will be playing at home against Mount Miguel at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
