Isaac Sullivan was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out nine batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Chaminade Julienne Catholic's success: when he posts at least one home run the team is 3-1 (and 11-13 when he doesn't).
Badin came out on top against Talawanda on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive eight-run fifth inning. The Rams never let the Brave get on the board and left with a 10-0 victory. The Rams might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 16 games by six runs or more this season.
Beau Chaney tossed a big game, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out eight over 4.2 innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April.
On the hitting side, Chandler Taylor was a standout: he went 1-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. Vince Laugle was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Badin's record now sits at 25-3-1. As for Chaminade Julienne Catholic, the win got them back to even at 14-14.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Friday as neither team is afraid to steal. Chaminade Julienne Catholic has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Badin struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 3.5 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Chaminade Julienne Catholic couldn't quite get it done against Badin when the teams last played back in April as they fell 5-0. Can the Eagles avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
