The Satellite Scorpions put another one in the bag on Monday to keep their perfect season alive. They walked away with a 70-60 win over Merritt Island. Given Satellite's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 145th, while Merritt Island is ranked 647th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Leading Satellite to victory were Michael Otero and Zander Tantius. Otero scored 17 points, while Tantius scored 17 points. The contest was Tantius' fourth in a row with at least ten points. Jack Knight was another key contributor, scoring 7 points along with 6 rebounds.
Despite the loss, Merritt Island still got an impressive performance from Braeden Rouleau, who scored 19 points along with 9 rebounds and 3 steals. Another player making a difference was Hudsom Blank, who scored 19 points.
Even though they lost, Merritt Island were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Satellite only pulled down four.
Satellite's win bumped their record up to 4-0. As for Merritt Island, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-5.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Satellite will challenge Titusville at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Titusville focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 19 on Tuesday. As for Merritt Island, they will head out on the road to face off against Cocoa Beach at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Cocoa Beach knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past four games -- so hopefully Merritt Island likes a good challenge.
