Paramount is 0-4 against Norwalk since March of 2023 but things could change on Tuesday. The Paramount Pirates will venture away from home to take on the Norwalk Lancers at 3:15 p.m. Paramount is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.9 runs per game this season.
Last Friday, everything went Paramount's way against Dominguez as Paramount made off with a 9-1 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Pirates.
Diego Padilla was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). Padilla was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 1-for-4.
In other pitching news, Raymundo Banuelos looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched.
Back at the plate, Paramount got a big performance out of Jacob Lara, who scored two runs while going 2-for-2. Nicholas Medina also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.
Paramount hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Dominguez struck out 11 times.
Meanwhile, Norwalk fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Mayfair on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Monsoons by a score of 8-7. Lancers fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against the Monsoons since on Friday.
Marcus Castillo was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run while going 3-for-4.
Norwalk now has a losing record of 3-4. As for Paramount, their record now sits at an identical 3-4.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Paramount has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.9 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Norwalk struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.4 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Paramount came up short against Norwalk in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, falling 6-3. Can Paramount avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
