The Cypress Creek Coyotes scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Wednesday. They slipped by Mitchell 65-64. Winning may never get old, but Cypress Creek sure is getting used to it with their fifth in a row.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Cypress Creek to victory, but perhaps none more so than Carinne Washington, who scored 23 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. Washington continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Deslynn Nickell, who scored 17 points along with seven rebounds and two steals.
Priya Jacob and Kaylana Little certainly did their best on Wednesday to avoid the loss. Jacob dropped a double-double on 16 points and 19 rebounds, while Little dropped a double-double on 17 points and 11 rebounds. Little hasn't dropped below two steals for nine straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Aleyah Hall, who scored 16 points along with six rebounds and four steals.
Even though they lost, Mitchell smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Cypress Creek only pulled down nine offensive rebounds.
Cypress Creek is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a massive bump to their 10-7 record this season. As for Mitchell, their loss dropped their record down to 15-9.
Cypress Creek will look to defend their home court on Thursday against the Sharks at 7:00 p.m. Anclote is no doubt hoping to put an end to a six-game streak of away losses. As for Mitchell, they will head out on the road to square off against the Lions at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Hernando Christian Academy comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 23 points in their last six games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse.
