Basketball Recap: Purchase Line Takes a Loss

Purchase Line played a tough matchup on Thursday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were dealt a 67-40 loss at the hands of the Marion Center Stingers. The Red Dragons haven't had much luck with the Stingers recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.

Several Red Dragons players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jakob Mountain, who posted nine points in addition to eight boards and four steals. Those eight boards gave Mountain a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Stephen Perruso, who had 11 points.

Even though they lost, Purchase Line smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Marion Center to victory, but perhaps none more so than Noah Mccoy, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and ten rebounds. With that strong performance, Mccoy is now averaging an impressive 15.5 points per game. Another player making a difference was Cameron Pack, who put up 15 points in addition to six steals and five assists.

Purchase Line's defeat dropped their record down to 1-7. As for Marion Center, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 3-4 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Purchase Line will host Harmony Area at 7:30 p.m. on December 26th. Purchase Line is facing Harmony Area at the right time seeing as Harmony Area is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Marion Center, they will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against River Valley at 7:00 p.m. on January 2, 2025.
