The Mission Bay Buccaneers were the 49-47 winner over the Madison Warhawks when they last played one another back in December of 2021, but their luck changed this time around. Mission Bay fell 34-27 to Madison on Wednesday. Mission Bay has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Several Buccaneers players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Courtlyn Mitchell, who scored 6 points along with 11 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Jackie Quiachon, who scored 10 points along with 6 rebounds.
Amyaha Walker was the offensive standout of the match as she scored 16 points along with 7 rebounds and 6 steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which she has scored at least 25% of Madison's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Sierra Minshew, who scored 7 points along with 12 rebounds and 3 steals.
Mission Bay's loss dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Madison, they now have a winning record of 2-1.
Mission Bay's road trip will continue as they head out to face La Jolla at 9:00 a.m. on November 24th. Hopefully La Jolla focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 11 on Wednesday. As for Madison, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Rancho Bernardo at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Rancho Bernardo presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Madison in California (Rancho Bernardo is ranked 12th, while Madison is ranked 258th).
