The Miramonte Matadors entered their tilt with the Washington Huskies with four consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with five. Miramonte claimed a resounding 51-19 victory over Washington on the road. Given Miramonte's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 251st, while Washington is ranked 539th), the result on Saturday wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Karena Eberts, who dropped a double-double on 28 points and 12 rebounds. That makes it seven consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Miramonte's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Julia Quinn Ferguson, who scored ten points along with five steals.
Miramonte has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 12-8 record this season. As for Washington, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 9-9.
Miramonte's road trip will continue as they head out to face Mt. Diablo at 7:00 p.m. on January 22nd. Mt. Diablo will be looking to keep their six-game home win streak alive. Washington will take on Mission San Jose at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
