The Madera South Stallions will be playing at home against the Torres Toros at 6:30 p.m. on Monday.
Madera South suffered their biggest loss yet this season on Thursday. They ended up on the wrong side of a rough 45-19 walloping at the hands of Fresno. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Madera South has scored all season.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was MICHELLE CORONA, who scored seven points. JALISSA KIRKPATRICK was another key contributor, scoring six points.
Meanwhile, Torres was able to grind out a solid victory over Sanger West on Thursday, taking the game 45-32. Given Torres' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 416th, while Sanger West is ranked 984th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
J'Lynn Mitchell and Sabrina Cerrillo were among the main playmakers for Torres as the former scored nine points along with six rebounds and six steals and the latter scored 12 points along with eight steals and five rebounds. Cerrillo has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last 12 times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Nevaeh Chavez, who scored nine points along with two steals.
Madera South has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-12 record this season. As for Torres, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 13-7.
Madera South was dealt a bruising 61-32 defeat at the hands of Torres in their previous meeting back in December of 2023. Will Madera South have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other basketball content.
