The Collins Hill Eagles will hit the road for the first time this season to square off against the Brookwood Broncos at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
On Monday, Collins Hill needed a bit of extra time to put away Lanier. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-5 win over the Longhorns. The Eagles haven't had any issues with the Longhorns recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.
Hunter Lee made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Lee was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with one home run, two stolen bases, and two RBI.
In other batting news, Noah Alvarado was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 3-for-5. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high. TJ Wilson was another key player, scoring a run and stealing two bases while getting on base in two of his five plate appearances.
Meanwhile, Brookwood took care of business in their home opener (and then some) on Monday. Everything went their way against Chamblee as Brookwood made off with a 9-2 win. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory the Broncos have posted since April 15, 2024.
Joe Soto looked comfortable as he struck out seven batters over 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. What's more, he also gave up only zero earned runs, the fewest he's had since back in April of 2024.
On the hitting side, Brookwood let Mason Archie and Chase Goodwin loose on the outfield. Archie went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base, while Goodwin went a perfect3-for-3 with three doubles, three RBI, and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Boomer Rogozinski, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-4.
