Ventura is on a 17-game streak of home wins (dating back to last season), while the Yellowjackets are on a six-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Ventura Cougars will take on the Oxnard Yellowjackets at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
Last Tuesday, Ventura was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 53-49 to the Bulldogs.
Skyler Knight put forth a good effort for the losing side as she scored 24 points along with seven rebounds and three blocks. It was the first time this season that she posted two or more blocks. Kailee Staniland was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with seven assists and three steals.
Meanwhile, Oxnard strolled past the Chargers with points to spare on Tuesday, taking the game 65-50.
Ventura's loss ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 23-4. As for Oxnard, they are on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 14 games, which provided a nice bump to their 22-5 record this season.
Ventura didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against the Yellowjackets in their previous matchup back in January, but they still walked away with a 59-54 win. Does Ventura have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Yellowjackets turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
