The Bonita Vista Barons will stay at home for another game and welcome the Leuzinger Olympians at 4:30 p.m. on January 15th. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the pair posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Last Thursday, Bonita Vista strolled past Francis Parker with points to spare, taking the game 55-39.
Mahliya Wilson was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 28 points and ten rebounds. She continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Shania White, who scored ten points along with two steals.
Meanwhile, Leuzinger can now show off nine landslide victories after their most recent matchup on Friday. They took their contest on the road with ease, bagging a 75-7 victory over Beverly Hills. Given Leuzinger's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 34th, while Beverly Hills is ranked 362nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Dresha Moore continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 21 points and 12 rebounds. Madison Watts was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with five steals and two blocks.
Bonita Vista's victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 6-10. As for Leuzinger, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 17-4 record this season.
Monday's game is shaping up to be a scrappy match: Bonita Vista have been smashing the glass this season, having only averaged 30.2 rebounds per game. It's a different story for Leuzinger, though, as they've been averaging only 28 rebounds per game. Given Bonita Vista's sizeable advantage in that area, Leuzinger will need to find a way to close that gap.
Bonita Vista beat Leuzinger 80-67 when the teams last played back in March of 2023. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Leuzinger's Mydrea Moore, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten rebounds. Now that she won't be playing on Monday, will it be that much easier for Bonita Vista to walk away with another win? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
