The Shadow Hills Knights came tearing into Friday's contest with seven straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 12 points) and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top against Chaparral by a score of 53-44. Given Shadow Hills' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 54th, while Chaparral is ranked 265th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Victoria Hyatt, who dropped a double-double on 27 points and 10 rebounds. That makes it six consecutive games in which she has scored at least 25% of Shadow Hills' points. Another player making a difference was Skylah Archer, who scored 9 points along with 3 steals.
Chaparral's lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Zetta Faasua, who scored 10 points along with 9 rebounds. The match was Faasua's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Maya Ford, who scored 6 points along with 11 rebounds and 3 steals.
Shadow Hills has yet to lose a game at home this season, leaving them with a 7-1 record. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.7 points per game. As for Chaparral, their loss dropped their record down to 6-3.
Shadow Hills will head out on the road to face off against Corona del Mar at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Chaparral, they will be playing at home against Paloma Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Paloma Valley focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 20 on Thursday.
