Softball Recap: Central Has No Trouble Against Northeast

The third road match was the charm for Central, as they earned their first away win of the season. They were the clear victors by a 12-3 margin over the Northeast Raiders on Tuesday. The victory continues a trend for the Chargers in their matchups with the Raiders: they've now won three in a row.

JaMyree Simmons was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She struck out nine batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Central let Caylin Mathis and Daja Pettigrew run wild. Mathis went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double, while Pettigrew went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was MacKenzie Anderson, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBI.

Central kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

Central picked up their first road win, bumping their record up to 5-2. As for Northeast, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-5.

Central has already played their next game, an 18-0 loss against Windsor Academy on the 3rd. As for Northeast, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 15-0 victory against the Hawks on the 2nd.
