When it comes to explaining why Olympian lost on Friday, one person who can't be blamed is Asia Darcuiel. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 28 points and ten rebounds. Darcuiel has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times she's played. Alyssa Lewis was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with five steals.
Academy of Our Lady of Peace's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Samantha Gehler, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 15 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Sydney Thomas, who scored 17 points.
Olympian's defeat dropped their record down to 9-8. As for Academy of Our Lady of Peace, their victory bumped their record up to 5-11.
Olympian will square off against Fallbrook at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in California (Fallbrook is ranked 343rd, while Olympian is ranked 368th). Academy of Our Lady of Peace won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Helix at 4:00 p.m. on January 13th. Hopefully Helix focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up eight on Friday.
