Baseball Recap: Clovis Has No Trouble Against Sierra Pacific

Sierra Pacific typically has all the answers at home, but on Wednesday Clovis proved too difficult a challenge. They blew past the Golden Bears 8-1. Considering the Cougars have won six games by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Reece Day looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (five).

On the hitting side, Deep Chohan was excellent, going 3-for-5 with three RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in February. Peyton Barsotti was another key player, scoring two runs while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.

Clovis kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in four consecutive contests.

Clovis is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 8-12 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.3 runs over those games. As for Sierra Pacific, their defeat dropped their record down to 14-6.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Clovis will face off against Clovis East at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Sierra Pacific, they will square off against Immanuel at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
