Ty Pierce made a splash no matter where he played. He tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. What's more, he posted three strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March. He was even better at the plate, going 2-for-3 with four runs, two stolen bases, and one triple. He is becoming a predictor of Mt. Vernon's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 7-1 (and 7-8 when he doesn't).
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Nolan Mast, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. Ryker Perigo was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and three runs.
Mt. Vernon was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .394. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .308 or higher in 11 consecutive matchups.
