The Verdugo Hills Dons scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Monday. They blew past Monroe 86-24 at home. That looming 86-24 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for Verdugo Hills yet this season.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Verdugo Hills to victory, but perhaps none more so than Amiyya Castanos, who scored 15 points along with eight steals. Another player making a difference was Rose Villatoro, who scored ten points along with seven steals and two blocks.
Verdugo Hills has been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 15-11 record this season. As for Monroe, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-14.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Verdugo Hills will take on the Huskies at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. North Hollywood will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 938th, while the Dons are ranked 450th). As for Monroe, they will head out on the road to square off against the Parrots at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
