Basketball Recap: Central's Victory on Saturday Extends Winning Streak to Three

Central had won two straight games and Victoria Zamora did her part to make it three on Saturday. Everything went the Central Spartans' way against the La Jolla Vikings as the Central Spartans made off with a 67-42 win thanks in part to Zamora, who posted 28 points. Her afternoon made it three games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points.

Another player making a difference was Maryanne Barrett, who put up 12 points and five steals. She has become a key player for Central: the team is 7-2 when she posts at least five steals, but 1-2 otherwise.

Despite the loss, La Jolla still got an impressive performance from Reagan Bennett, who went 8 of 14 on her way to 21 points. Bennett is on a roll when it comes to points, as she's now scored 15 or more in the last eight games she's played.

Central is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season. As for La Jolla, their loss dropped their record down to 10-6.

Central will venture away from home to take on Montgomery at 12:00 p.m. on Monday. Central has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for La Jolla, they will be taking part in a tournament against Calexico at 10:30 a.m. on Monday. La Jolla is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 53.4 points per game this season.
