Jared Hutar and Austin Pfisthner provided fans with a highlight when they connected against Floodwood. The connection went for 68 yards, the longest such play in Great Northern (9 Man) this season.
The Polar Bears were the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from seventh to fourth in the league. Floodwood beat Cromwell 24-21 earlier in the week.
The Cardinals' dynamic duo of Hutar and Pfisthner proved tough for Larry Heggedahl's team to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Hutar threw for 159 yards and one touchdown and Pfisthner had 114 yards receiving. Josh Oliver helped Cromwell's passing attack out by catching two balls for 28 yards.
Tim Tierney was the most productive running back in the league this week. In 26 carries, he ran for 189 yards as McGregor lost to the Polar Bears. Teammate Andrew Demenge added to the ground attack by rushing for 100 yards.
Jeff Gronner's team's Hutar and Oliver have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading Great Northern (9 Man) in both passing and receiving yards. Hutar has thrown for 664 yards this season, while Oliver has 11 catches for 223 yards. Tierney from the Mercuries leads the league in rushing with 893 yards.
The marquee game in the league this week will be the clash between Onamia and Kelliher/Northome. The Panthers enters the game ranked 12th in the state, while the Mustangs ranks 22nd.
Two of the top units in the league will face off this week when McGregor takes on Nevis. Bob Staska's team's offense has recorded 201 points this season, making them No. 1 in the league, while the Tigers have permitted only 88 on the year.
Nevis extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Onamia, 38-22. The victory was the seventh in a row for the team.
