The Northview Wildcats are taking a road trip to challenge the Perkins Pirates at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Northview came out on top against Ross on Friday thanks in part to the team's impressive six-run sixth inning. The Wildcats put the hurt on the Little Giants with a sharp 12-2 victory. The Wildcats not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since April 6th (when they won 10-0).
Gavin Smith and Charlie Paulson made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Smith pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Paulson tossed 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Smith has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. At bat, Smith got on base in all three of his plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs, while Paulson went 3-for-5 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles. That's the most runs Smith has posted since back in April.

In other batting news, Northview got a big performance out of Conner Draper, who went 2-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. Draper is becoming a predictor of the Wildcats' success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 3-8 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Hayden Daleska, who went 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, two RBI, and one run.
Northview always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .533. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Ross only posted an OBP of .192.
Meanwhile, Perkins entered their tilt with St. Edward on Saturday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 2-1 W against the Eagles. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Pirates have posted since May 4th.
Zach Cummings looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits.
On the hitting side, Perkins' victory was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Quentin Binette, who went 2-for-3 with one RBI.
Northview's record now sits at 12-8. As for Perkins, their record is now 16-5-1.
Northview got the 'W' in their previous meeting back in May of 2025 against Perkins by a conclusive 8-2 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Wildcats since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
