The Encina Prep Bulldogs's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their fifth straight loss. They took a 41-28 hit to the loss column at the hands of Futures. Encina Prep found out winning isn't easy when you're outrebounded 18 to 1 on offense.
They got a good chunk of their points from the dynamic duo of
Tianna Davis and
Maraia Rokosiga, who each put up eight points.
Emma Kharchenko was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 12 points and 23 rebounds for Futures. Kharchenko hasn't dropped below two steals for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Ajonna Mcclanathan, who scored 13 points along with nine rebounds and four steals.
Encina Prep has been struggling recently, as they've lost eight of their last nine games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-13 record this season. As for Futures, their win ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 6-11.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Encina Prep will take on Foresthill at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Foresthill presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Encina Prep in California (Foresthill is ranked 587th, while Encina Prep is ranked 1266th). As for Futures, they will head out on the road to square off against Woodland Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Woodland Christian's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last five matchups.
