A Season-Best Effort from Hagen Hughes Leads Azle over Birdville
On Friday, Azle got the W thanks in part to Hagen Hughes playing the best football he has all season. Hughes rushed for 251 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 13.9 yards per carry, good enough to set a new career-high in rushing yards in the process. He really tore up the turf during one magnificent 75-yard run.
The win for Azle keeps them at an undefeated 5-0. Hughes and Azle will venture away from home to challenge Fossil Ridge at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.

Lamar Leggins Turns in Season-Best Effort
Birdville came up short on Friday despite Lamar Leggins delivering his best game to date. Leggins rushed for 182 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 7.9 yards per carry.
Birdville is on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-4. Leggins and Birdville will face off against Denton at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.

Drew Kates Crosses Big Stat Threshold
Drew Kates was instrumental in extending Richland's winning streak to six on Friday. Kates was excellent, throwing for 363 yards and five touchdowns while completing 76.7% of his passes, and also rushing for 42 yards. Thanks to that strong showing, he's now averaging 3.2 passing touchdowns per game. He is on a roll when it comes to passing touchdowns, as he's now passed for three or more in the last four games he's played dating back to last season.
Richland pushed their record up to 6-0 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. Kates will try to repeat (or improve) on that dominant effort when he faces off against Ryan on Friday.

Raycine Guillory Jr and Co. Win Fifth in a Row
Aledo picked up their fifth consecutive win on Friday thanks in part to Raycine Guillory Jr. Guillory Jr showed up in a big way, rushing for 165 yards and two touchdowns, while also picking up 33 receiving yards and a touchdown. The performance once again pushed his average rushing yardage north of 100 yards per game (108.5).
Aledo pushed their record up to 5-1 with the win, which was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season. Guillory Jr and Aledo will head out to square off against Granbury at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
