The Mineral County Serpents's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They were the victim of a rough 71-51 loss at the hands of Virginia City. If Mineral County was looking for revenge after losing 65-55 to them when the teams met, then they'll just have to keep looking.
Defeat or not, Mineral County got some senior leadership from DeVayne Isom and Triston Jones. Isom dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten rebounds, while Jones. scored 13 points along with eight rebounds and four steals. Isom hasn't dropped below two steals for 15 straight games. Another player making a difference was Andrew Stinson, who scored six points along with two steals.
Mineral County's defeat dropped their record down to 14-11. As for Virginia City, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 13 of their last 14 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 16-4 record this season.
Mineral County will head out on the road to challenge the Wolves at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Coleville is coming into the contest on a six-game losing streak. As for Virginia City, they won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against the Bulldogs at 5:30 p.m. on February 3rd. Smith Valley is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
