After four games on the road, Corning is heading back home. They will take on the Orland Trojans at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
Last Tuesday, Corning came up short against Las Plumas and fell 38-28. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Corning in their matchups with Las Plumas: they've now lost eight in a row.
Meanwhile, winning is just a little bit easier when you work as a team to rack up 11 more assists than your opponent, a fact Orland proved on Tuesday. They secured a 51-46 W over Oroville.
Orland got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Angie Bernal out in front who scored 17 points along with five rebounds and four steals. It was the first time this season that Bernal scored 15 or more points. Lillianna Rowe was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with 11 rebounds and five assists.
Corning's loss was their 18th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-22. As for Orland, their win bumped their record up to 11-16.
Corning took a serious blow against Orland in their previous meeting back in January, falling 52-25. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Rowe, who scored 14 points along with seven rebounds and two steals. Now that Corning knows the damage she can cause, will they be able to stop her this time? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
