Area Code Games get underway

The Area Code Baseball Games get underway Sunday in Long Beach, Calif., with eight teams and close to 240 players from all over the country participating in the annual showcase.

The event takes players from all over the country and places them on teams based on their residency. Each team plays five games over the course of the six-day tournament. The event annually features the top high school baseball prospects in the country.

Following is a look at the rosters for each of the eight teams as well as the schedule of games.

Milwaukee Brewers
The Brewers consist of players from Southern California and this year's group boasts some of the nation's top catchers, including Mater Dei's Jeremy Martinez, Cypress's Tyler Alamo and Rancho Bernardo's Alex Jackson. Stephen Gonzalves of Cathedral Catholic leads the list of pitchers. The Brewers also have two of the nation's top shortstops in Chris Rivera of El Dorado and J.P. Crawford of Lakewood.

Brady Corless of Spanish Fork leads the pitching staff. Corless has graduated a year early from high school and will play at the community college level this season. Also on the team is Brody Weiss, the son of current Regis Jesuit coach, and former major leaguer, Walt Weiss.
