Calvary Christian has won seven straight games at home (dating back to last season), while Brookstone has won seven straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Tuesday. The Knights will welcome the Cougars at 7:00 p.m. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
On Saturday, Calvary Christian made easy work of Russell County and carried off a 13-2 win. With that victory, the Knights brought their scoring average up to 6.3 runs per game.

Braxton Wilkinson and Fitz Stone made a splash while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Wilkinson pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Stone pitched 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Calvary Christian is undefeated when Wilkinson allows two or fewer hits, but 7-10 otherwise. At the plate, Wilkinson scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-1, while Stone scored two runs while going 1-for-2. The dominant performance also gave Wilkinson a new career-high in RBI (two).
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Cam Houston, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one home run, two stolen bases, and three RBI. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in March. Bryson Brooks was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 1-for-2.
Calvary Christian always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .571. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Meanwhile, Brookstone got the win against Westfield School on Thursday by a conclusive 9-2. The result was nothing new for the Cougars, who have now won ten matches by seven runs or more so far this season.
Brennan Neal made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out 12 batters over 6.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in ten consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with one home run and one stolen base. That home run marked the first that he launched this season.
In other batting news, Gray Jones was excellent, scoring a run while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Mitcham Kelly, who scored a run while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.
Brookstone is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-3 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Calvary Christian, they now have a winning record of 11-10.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Calvary Christian has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.7 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Brookstone struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.7 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Calvary Christian might still be hurting after the 15-6 loss they got from Brookstone when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can the Knights avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
