The Westview Wolverines will take on the Acalanes Dons in a tournament on Monday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Westview has eight straight victories, Acalanes has four straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Westview picked up another tournament win on Thursday. They came out on top against Bishop's by a score of 8-3. That's two games straight that the Wolverines have won by exactly five runs.

Jacob Kuy made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit over four innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double. Those four hits gave him a new career-high.
In other pitching news, Tyler Bissessar looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run any time he's pitched this season.
Back at the plate, Joseph Arango-Manley was incredible, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Charles Jaskowiak, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Westview kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Bishop's only managed three.
Meanwhile, Friday just wasn't the day for Acalanes' offense. They fell just short of Foothill by a score of 2-0 on Friday. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since April 6, 2019, but that streak is no more.
Riley Gates was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he tossed 5.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits.
Acalanes' loss dropped their record down to 2-5-1. As for Westview, their win bumped their record up to 8-1.
Acalanes' pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Westview hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .319. It's a different story for Acalanes, though, as they've only averaged .222. Will they be able to contain Westview's hitters?
