The result was an unpleasant reminder to Western Christian of the 43-27 defeat they experienced in the two teams' previous head-to-head fixture two weeks ago.
Despite the defeat, Western Christian saw an underclassman step up: CeCe Balderrama dropped a double-double on 18 points and 16 rebounds. Balderrama is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last three games she's played.
Western Christian's defeat was their 12th straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 5-19. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 29.6 points per game. As for San Gabriel Academy, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a massive bump to their 9-6 record this season.
Western Christian will head out on the road to take on Newport Christian at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Newport Christian is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'. As for San Gabriel Academy, they will face off against Chisholm Trail Academy at 8:50 p.m. on Wednesday.
