The Lower Lake Trojans won the last time they faced the Willits Wolverines, and things went their way on Tuesday too. Lower Lake snuck past the Wolverines with a 54-48 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Lower Lake.
It was another big night for Tiahna Tubbs, who dropped a double-double on 31 points and 11 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points she has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Serenity McCoy, who almost dropped a double-double on 12 points and nine rebounds.
Willits' loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Chloe Wright, who scored 16 points along with six rebounds. It was the first time this season that Wright scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Hazel Cooke, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 14 rebounds.
Even though they lost, Willits were working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lower Lake only posted eight assists.
The victory got Lower Lake back to even at 12-12. As for Willits, their defeat was their sixth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 9-16.
Lower Lake will take on the Saints at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. St. Helena has now lost 13 straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 7. As for Willits, they will head out on the road to challenge the Eagles at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Cloverdale is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last eight games.
