Baseball Game Preview: Summerville Bears vs. Linden Lions

The Summerville Bears will take on the Linden Lions at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Summerville is coming into the contest hot, having won their last four games.

For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Summerville and Calaveras meet (four straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Friday. Summerville didn't even let Calaveras on the board, marking Summerville's second-straight 11-0 shutout.

Kane Hall was excellent, scoring three runs while going 1-for-3. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Evan Roberson also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Meanwhile, Linden unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Saturday. They fell just short of Hughson by a score of 7-6.

Marco Holguin was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. He tossed three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

In other batting news, Jacob Rickets was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.

Summerville's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 6-8-1. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games. As for Linden, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-4.

Summerville beat Linden 6-1 when the teams last played back in February of 2024. Does Summerville have another victory up their sleeve, or will Linden turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
