Baseball Game Preview: Deerfield-Windsor Knights vs. Terrell Academy Eagles

For the second straight game, Deerfield-Windsor will face off against Terrell Academy. Deerfield-Windsor will head out to challenge Terrell Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Deerfield-Windsor is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10.2 runs per game this season.

Deerfield-Windsor will bounce into Thursday's matchup after beating Terrell Academy, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. Deerfield-Windsor walked away with a 13-8 win over Terrell Academy on Tuesday. While the Knights didn't have the best season last year (they finished 7-17-1), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

David Hutchins was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He struck out seven batters over 4.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off eight hits (and only one walk). That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 3-for-4.

In other batting news, Lane Sceals was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Brantley Michlig, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

Deerfield-Windsor kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in seven consecutive games.

Deerfield-Windsor pushed their record up to 6-1-1 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.7 runs over those games. As for Terrell Academy, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last seven contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-7 record this season.
